An Australian in Nuremberg: Premiere at FeuerTrutz

In its anniversary year, NürnbergMesse not only organised the ‘biggest FeuerTrutz ever’, the trade fair for fire protection is also becoming increasingly international: Locatrix was the first Australian company to make the long journey to Nuremberg for the trade fair.

The company has been based in Loganholme, Down Under, for 15 years and develops digital solutions for fire protection. ‘But we've only just started to expand into the German market,’ says Executive Manager Andreas Deakin.

At his first trade fair in Nuremberg, Deakin was omnipresent, both as an explainer of his exhibits and as a speaker. Moderator Robert Bittig conducted an interview with him at the ‘Shaping digitalisation in practice’ forum and Deakin was also part of a panel discussion with fire protection experts Cornelius Preidel and Friedhelm Jung.

After two intensive days at the trade fair during his first appearance in Nuremberg, Andreas Deakin posted appreciatively on the company platform LinkedIn: ‘What a whirlwind of an adventure FeuerTrutz was’. He has already marked next year's event in his diary.

Mr Deakin, how did you experience the two intensive days at FeuerTrutz in Nuremberg?

Andreas Deakin: It was the right way for us to enter the market. It was a great opportunity and the perfect forum to introduce ourselves. Everything was excellently organised.

Locatrix is the first Australian exhibitor in the history of FeuerTrutz. What makes ‘Aussies’ want to travel to the other side of the world?

We already operate in England. The problems of digitalisation and also the legislation in Australia and Germany are almost the same, so we were able to adapt our product easily and hopefully help fire protection companies here in the same way.

How did the communication with NürnbergMesse go - from the initial contact to the trade fair appearance?

I got in touch with NürnbergMesse through a trade fair contact in England. The offer of the exhibition and in particular the digitalisation forum was a very good fit for us. We were fully informed at all times, both by the organisers and by the event team, as far as the interview and the panel discussion were concerned.

What topics did you present at the trade fair and what was the benefit for you?

We presented our PlanStudio product for digitising building plans and how we use it to automate fire protection, fire brigade and escape and rescue plans. We made a lot of valuable contacts and received very positive feedback.

What lasting impressions do you have of the trade fair and of Nuremberg?

Nuremberg is a very good location for a trade fair.  In terms of size and easy to reach. The trade fair was perfectly and extremely professionally organised.
