A change of positions on the Supervisory Board: at its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of NürnbergMesse elected unanimously Marcus König, Mayor of the City of Nuremberg, as the board’s new Deputy Chairman. In that capacity, König succeeds his predecessor from City Hall, Dr Ulrich Maly. König joins Albert Füracker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Bavarian Minister for Finance and Home Affairs, at the head of NürnbergMesse’s oversight body.
Finance Minister Füracker expressed his pleasure at the prospect of working with the Nuremberg mayor. “As an experienced member of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Construction and Contracting Committee, Marcus König is very well acquainted with NürnbergMesse’s needs and concerns. NürnbergMesse’s two majority shareholders, the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Nuremberg, stand together behind the organisation, especially in this difficult period caused by the coronavirus.”
“I’m looking forward to my new duties on the Supervisory Board. NürnbergMesse is one of the city’s most important employers. Its trade shows and conferences generate extensive purchasing power effects that strengthen Nuremberg both as a business location and as a metropolitan region”, König said.
The chair of NürnbergMesse’s Supervisory Board traditionally alternates between the organisation’s two majority shareholders. König will begin his tenure on the board in a deputy capacity. In three years, the chair will then transfer from the state to the city. The Supervisory Board of NürnbergMesse has a total of 18 members, including representatives of the Nuremberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Middle Franconia, the Chamber of Crafts for Middle Franconia, as well as six representatives of the Employees’ Council of NürnbergMesse GmbH.
