World premiere at Christmas

Flexible container cubes, each with two fast-charging points, form the basis of the Audi charging hub. They save time because they can be assembled and disassembled within a few days and can be combined in different configurations. They also save costs and resources, because they use second-life batteries to store electricity. These are used and reconditioned lithium-ion batteries from dismantled development vehicles.

Thanks to an intermediate storage unit of around 2.45 MWh, the charging points in Nuremberg only require a 200-kW green power connection to the low-voltage grid that is available anyway. This continuously fills the storage modules and allows around 80 vehicles to be charged per day without the capacity of the electricity storage system reaching its limits. Photovoltaic modules on the roof additionally provide up to 30 kW of green energy. "The charging boxes on one of the city's most important entrance and exit roads and a very important business location are a great contribution to the expansion of the infrastructure for electromobility in Nuremberg," emphasizes Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König. The Audi charging hub is an open charging location and therefore the entrance area is also accessible to drivers of other makes.

Go up and come down - that's how easy it is to balance the work-life balance at the Audi charging hub. Above the cubes is an exclusive 200-square-meter barrier-free lounge with a 40-square-meter terrace, where e-car owners can shorten the already short charging time even more, depending on their preferences: make an important phone call, grab a bite to eat or simply stretch their legs. Charging points and lounge are available around the clock, and between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. a member of staff will look after visitors' wishes.

Peter Ottmann, NürnbergMesse CEO, sees the added value of the Audi charging hub: "On the one hand for our exhibitors and visitors when participating in exhibitions and congresses, but at the same time we are also strengthening our sustainability at the exhibition center".

His CEO colleague Dr. Roland Fleck is delighted that Audi has chosen the Nuremberg exhibition center as the location for this world premiere: "The Audi charging hub is an impressive example of how innovations and attractive services are constantly being created around our exhibition center. For Audi, it is important to find out whether the expectations of the customers are met and at which times of the day the facility is particularly frequented. Offers such as an exchange station for e-bike batteries, a rental service for e-scooters or a just-in-time delivery service for groceries provide further reasons to test the Audi charging hub.
