Trade Fair Soccer Cup in Nuremberg for the first time: this is our team

On June 15, 2024, the International Trade Fair Cities Soccer Tournament will take place for the 42nd time. To mark its 50th anniversary, NürnbergMesse will be the venue and proud host for the first time. A few weeks before the tournament, anticipation is building among the NürnbergMesse players. These are our kickers! Part 2

Dominik Dietz - the number 1 works in the BIOFACH team

What is your job at NürnbergMesse?

I started as a dual student at NürnbergMesse in 2015 and have been part of the BIOFACH team since 2018. Over the years, I've worked in all areas of exhibition organization, from hall planning and key account management to the further development of our digital presence and products.

What does soccer mean to you?

Since childhood, my heart has not only beaten for FC Schalke 04, I have also played soccer myself since I was a child. I was in goal right from the start. In my active soccer days, I played up to U15. After that, it became less and less, and we occasionally played football during my studies. So I'm all the more pleased that I can now play regularly in the NM team again. I'm part of the organizing team for this year's exhibition cup in Nuremberg, together with Marie and Uwe.

How did you join the NürnbergMesse team?

The decisive factor was the team call for the 2019 Trade Fair Cup in Berlin. The team spirit during the preparations for Berlin was there straight away and really inspired me. I've been a permanent member of the team ever since.

What are your hopes for the Trade Fair Cup in Nuremberg?

After two participations in the Messe Cup in Berlin and Utrecht with a great atmosphere on the away trip, I hope that we can top the experience at our home tournament! I'm looking forward to seeing the other trade fair companies again, the fight on the pitch, the exuberant celebrations afterwards and the energetic support from our fans. And of course I hope that we can extend our run of success following our 3rd place in Utrecht, use our home advantage and keep the Cup in Nuremberg.

Marie Gantikow - founded her first team at the age of 10

What is your job at NürnbergMesse?

I'm a manager in the Building and Construction division, where I'm responsible for sales at the FeuerTrutz and GaLaBau trade fairs.

What does soccer mean to you?

I started playing soccer at the age of ten. Back then, my best friends and I formed a girls' team because we didn't want to play with the boys anymore - today I feel really comfortable in our mixed NM team!

How did you join the NürnbergMesse team?

I was approached by an employee of our ServicePartner Holtmann+ when I started at NürnbergMesse. He knew me as a soccer player. That was my luck, because as a player in the soccer team, networking in the new company was much easier.

What are your hopes for the Trade Fair Cup in Nuremberg?

I hope that everyone will have an unforgettable weekend in Nuremberg! The networking with the other exhibition companies, the spirit between fans and players, the common goal and the fun will be felt for months to come - because it's at events like this that ideas, friendships and collaborations are born.

Thomas Stachulla - captain with soccer in his genes

What is your job at NürnbergMesse?

I work in the Digital Products & Platforms team and, among other things, drive the further development of our digital touchpoints based on user needs. My team and I are also on the home stretch of the company-wide website relaunch.

What does soccer mean to you?

Soccer has always been a big part of me because of my family, as my grandfather played in the 2nd Polish league. I guess a bit of talent was passed on to me. I made my first attempts at soccer in the Youth teams and my training ground at the time was very close to the exhibition grounds. I later made it into the youth team and played in the men's team in the higher amateur leagues, including the national league. As an active footballer, I got around a lot and have many fond memories of that time. Now I only play football at home with my four-year-old son Theo - and in the NM team.

How did you join the NürnbergMesse team?

The first time I took part in a company cup in the hall. That must have been in 2014. When the NM team reformed for the tournament in Berlin, I wasn't able to take part. But our coach Uwe didn't let up and last year I took part in the trade fair tournament in Utrecht. Now I'm looking forward to leading the team onto the pitch again as captain at the home tournament.

What are your hopes for the Trade Fair Cup in Nuremberg?

I'm really looking forward to our home tournament! Our organizing team around Uwe, Marie and Domi are putting an incredible amount of effort and heart and soul into putting on a great event for the teams and spectators. These will be the perfect conditions to celebrate a spectacular and friendly soccer festival together with the other exhibition teams. I therefore hope for an exceptional atmosphere, exciting matches and, of course, that with the great fan support of our colleagues, we will make the most of the home advantage and keep the Messe Cup in Nuremberg.

That was part 2 of our team. We will introduce more players of the NürnbergMesse team in the following articles.

We are looking forward to the 42nd International Exhibition Cities Football Tournament on June 15 in Nuremberg!
